1 Year Checkup

Today Kyle had his 1 year check up appointment. The doctor said everything looks great!

Here are his stats:
Weight: 23.5 lbs. (he got to stand on the big boy scale today. No more getting naked to lay on the baby scale!)
Length: 30 inches

He got 3 shots today. He cried for a few minutes and then feel right to sleep on the way home. Now lets see if he falls to sleep in his crib!

Happy Birthday Kyle

Dear Kyle,

On this day a year ago you came into this world and changed my world forever. My life purpose changed. From that day on I was your Mommy! I could never have dreamed what was ahead for me after you were born. The emotions, the tears, the happiness, the joy, the smiles, the laughs and the LOVE.

Each morning I wake up thinking of your smile and your laugh. I look forward to seeing what new thing you will learn that day. What you will figure out and what will make you laugh. And to see how much you have changed and grown.

What you have accomplished and done in the last year is amazing. I just can't imagine what you will do in the next year.

I could go on and on about what you mean to me and how much this past year has meant to me. But what is most important is you know that I love you very much and this past year has been the absolute best.

Remember as you are off exploring your new world remember I am always here for a hug, a kiss or a cuddle.

Slip-n-slide

Here is a little story....
Setting: Outside while Kyle and his friends play with his new water table.

"Hey Brian maybe next year someone will get Kyle a slip-n-slide."

"I have 120 feet of plastic in the basement."

"Why do you have 120 feet of plastic in the basement?"

(ignoring the question) "I could go get it and we could have a slip-n-slide down this hill. Should I get it."

Cindy says "NO!"

Everyone else says "YEAH!!"

5 minutes later....

I don't know how we can beat this at Kyle's second birthday party! Maybe by then Kyle will be old enough to join in the fun.

1st Birthday Party

Kyle's first birthday party was on Saturday. He had invited over all his friends and family.
The weather was perfect! We had a ton of food and of course birthday cake.

Kyle had his very own birthday cake. We sang happy birthday and he looked at us like we were crazy and then it was time for cake! It took him a few minutes to get into the cake but after a few minutes he was covered!
(His daddy drew the number 1 on his forehead.)

I am still not sure if he even liked the cake or not.

Then it was straight upstairs to have a bath.



After we were cleaned up from the cake it was time to open presents. Kyle got a ton of really cool gifts but I think these were his favorite present.



He even shared his favorite present with his friend girlfriend Abby.










He also got a water table. Kyle, Arley and Abby enjoyed played at the table.
























It was a perfect 1st birthday party.

Brewery Tours

My house has turned into a beer brewery. I will soon be giving tours.
Brian and his friend Ben have requested that I write a blog about their beer brewing. Since I have NO clue what they are doing I will just post some pictures I have taken while they were creating their beer and make my own comments.

Here they are pouring some stuff into a large pot. It looks like caramel. I am not a beer drinker but I don't think caramel sounds good in beer.


I believe this part of the brewing stage is when they drink more beer then they are making. Very important step I am told.

Carefully setting up the working area. Total concentration is needed.


Here I am sure all of you can guess what I was saying.... "If you spill any of that on the floors....!"
(As if they would waste one singe drip.)

Not sure what to say about this except that it would have been better with the video camera.


These photographs are from their first batch. A few weeks later while they were home with Kyle and Abby they made another batch. They did this while Stephanie and I were in Rehoboth. While in Rehoboth Stephanie and I further proved that we are the best wives in the world (or supporter of a bad habit....) by buying 3 cases of Dogfish head!

Boat Ride

Kyle had his first boat ride.
Kyle did not have fun.
On the way to the dock to meet Nana and Poppy he got sunscreen in his eyes. So he was crying before he got out of the car. When we got him out of the car his eyes were all puffy.
Then we had to put the life vest on and that did not help the tears.

It was the saddest face he has every had! Holding Daddy's cell phone did not even stop the tears.


He was happy for a few minutes when he got some goldfish


We did get some smiles and happy faces on our way back into the dock. Maybe he knew it would be over soon.

Next time we are hoping for no sunscreen in the eyes and smiles the whole time! I know one day he will be so excited when it is time to go out on the boat.
By the end of the summer he will be water skiing and tubing :)
