Catch up

Because I have started back to work I have not had time or energy to keep up, so I will be playing catch up and talking about random things.

Back to work-
I am learning to live a new life as a working mom. It is hard work. I have to realize that not all the house work is going to get done and things are not as neat as they once were. I am learning how to organize my time at work. I hope I can get that one figured out soon or my students will not have any lessons because I don't have time to plan. It is a new role that I am excited to take on but still need to get myself adjusted.

Football season is just around the corner and Kyle is ready to cheer for his favorite team!


Wedding Bells-
Lisa is getting married in one week and the girls took her out for her bachelorette party.
I ordered Kyle a tuxedo for the wedding and I am having trouble with the post office getting it delivered. I hope it gets here on time, it is so CUTE!

Visit -
Heather and Todd were here for a visit. It was great to see them. Everything is going great with them. Heather starts her classes soon. GOOD LUCK Heather!!

Summer

We were not blogging when we went on our vacations this summer so I thought I would share some pictures and memories of our two trips to the beach.

First we were off to Bethany Beach. It was Kyle's first trip to the beach. I think he enjoyed himself.

We had a great time at the beach this summer. We are looking forward to next year when Kyle is a little older and will be able to stay out on the beach for a longer period of time. (putting a ton of sand in his mouth I am sure)

It will be OK

I survived my first day back to work. Tears were shed but I knew that would happen. As long as I kept myself busy at work I was good. I was happy to show people pictures of Kyle but would get sad when they asked me if it was hard to leave him this morning. I know it will get better and my family and friends have been great support!
It will be OK!

The Hardest Thing

I am getting ready to do the hardest thing I have had to do in a long time... go back to work.

Kyle I am sorry.
I am going to miss staying in our pajamas until lunch and having you to myself all day. I will miss you!
But I know at the end of the day you will be there to give me a big smile to let me know it is OK.

Does this feeling of sadness and guilt ever go away?

Fixing Things

Cole has a cut on his back leg and the scab keeps falling off and he is getting blood on the carpet and furniture so I gave him a pretty pink bandage. He does not chew it he just shakes his leg all the time trying to get it off. So not only did I fix the bleeding in the house issue I also have found something to keep him busy and out of trouble for a few hours.

Here are some cute pictures of Kyle discovering his Daddy is wearing glasses. I guess we are entering the stage of not where any glasses, earings, necklaces or any other accessory that could be grabbed, pulled and then put in the mouth.

Less Stress and Happy Things

For the last couple of days I have been feeling very stressed and anxious due to a combination of things. So as part of my way of feeling less anxious and less stressed I am going to list 10 things that make me happy.

10 Things that Make me Happy (in no particular order)

1. My husband who loves me even when I get emotional and crazy. I love him!
2. My baby.
3. My family.
4. Reading a really good book.
5. Hanging out with my friends.
6. Going for a walk with my family.

(mind you as I am typing this one of my big stresses, Cole is trying to get my hairbrush off the dresser to eat it and I had to pause to scold him) back to less stressful things.....

7. Seeing my students succeed at something no one thought hey could do.
8. Eating (which seems to increase when I am stressed).
9. Shopping.
10. Taking an afternoon nap.

I hope in the next few days I get to experience some of these things and start to feel less stressed.

Bad Dog

We wanted to give Cole a chance to prove he would not destroy the house if we left him out of his crate while we were gone. So we gave him a test. We secured him in a small area of the house and removed what we thought he would get into and went out to lunch. Somehow he was able to OPEN a closet door and hit the jackpot!!!!

We had him pose for us in his mess.

So I don't think our test was successful.

Fashion Show

This is what happened when we left Cole with my parents.

No Use

Whoever said "no use crying over spilled milk" was not breastfeeding.

2 ounces lost this morning.... boo hoo!!!!!

Proud Parent

Now that Brian and I are parents there are things we never thought we would be excited or proud of until we had Kyle.

New things Brian and I have been excited for:

- His first poop after leaving the hospital.
- Having enough of those poopie diapers a day.
- His first pee after the "procedure."
- Milk coming in.
- Having enough milk.
- Eating dinner without any interruption.
- Taking a nap.
- Getting 5 or more consecutive hours of sleep.
- Having the time to clean the house (this is more mine than Brian's).

Our growing list of proud parent moments:

- How beautiful Kyle is.
- The ability for Kyle to hold his head up.
- Turn his head to a sound.
- Follow something he sees.
- Clasping his hands together.
- Sleeping through the night.
- His first beautiful smile.
- His first "coo."
- Laughing.
- Reaching for something.
- Grabbing something.
- Holding a toy.
- Grabbing a toy and bringing it to his mouth.
- Talking and smiling to us.
- His huge good morning smile!!
- Sitting up with little support.


Future proud parent moments that will be here before we know it:

- Rolling over.
- Crawling.
- Sitting on his own.
- Pulling himself up.
- Walking.
- His first words.
- Eating solid foods.
- His first birthday.
- Many, many more.....






We love you and can't believe how proud we feel now and look forward to your many more accomplishments.

Sitting up, Pee and Poop

We got Kyle a new seat that helps him sit up. He is getting so strong and has great head and neck strength. He loves sitting in his seat and looking around. He is also starting to reach for things and grab toys. He is changing so much each day.

He is only wearing a diaper because a few minutes before this was taken Kyle peed all over himself (luckily not on mommy). Oh and earlier that day he pooped out of his diaper (that did get on mommy). Why did he poop out of his diaper you ask.... Daddy did not put his diaper on tight enough. What did daddy say as soon as Kyle pooped all over the place?? "I have to go to work now, have a good day!"

Why?

Why did I start a blog?
I don't really know. I enjoy reading my friends and family members blogs and thought it might be a good idea to have one for our family. I think it will be a great way for me to record family events so we can share them with family and friends and one day we could look back on these events.

Why did I call it the Berning Zoo?
Because Brian or I say all the time "we live in a zoo!!!"

Even though we live in a zoo we love our crazy life and would not want it any other way!
