Always Have a Spare

Kyle has a favorite stuffed animal, his monkey. He sleeps with it every night and wants to take with him around the house (by the strings on his hat). When I saw that this was his favorite, I went to the store and bought a spare. Just in case of a monkey emergency.
Last night I had to break out the emergency monkey...
Kyle has been sick the past few days and last night was the worst, it included him throwing up all over monkey. There was no way he was going to be able to sleep with his monkey the rest of the night. I quickly scooped up barfy monkey and got out the spare monkey. He looked a bit different, not as worn out and dirty but Kyle took right to this monkey. Kyle was able to "sleep" the rest of the night with his beloved monkey.

On a side note, I have rescued old monkey. My new washing machine and dryer are amazing and he was able to be washed and dried and is back to his old self, but a little cleaner.

I will put emergency monkey back into hiding and I am sure get him out another day.

Sick Boy

Kyle is not feeling very well. He had a visit to the doctor this morning and he has RSV and a GI infection. He has spent most of the day watching "Hotdog" (Mickey).
(It is a good thing I had several saved on the DVR.)
He gets little spurts of wanting to play but that does not last too long, then he is back to feeling crummy.
I just hope my little guy is feeling better soon.






Cole is checking on his buddy Kyle. He wants him to feel better so they can play together.



Due to this, potty training has been temporarily put on hold.

Potty Time

*Warning this post contains potty words! :)
We have been sort-of potty training Kyle the last few weeks. If he says something we put him on it, if we ask, he sits on it. He always goes a little pee pee each time. There have been a few poo poos. He has even sat on the potty a few times at Aunt Erica's.
So I decided since I have off this week I will give it a real try.

Here are my thoughts or observations on how it is going so far...

- This could be difficult! But I know he can do it.
- I have no real plan, just going by what works each day.
- Sometimes he wants a yogurt puff for sitting on the potty, the next day it is an M&M and today it is goldfish.
- He always asks for TWO of whatever he gets that day.
- He can completely control his pee pee. He will let a little out, get excited, want it flushed and then do it again.
- He loves to wave bye bye to his product.
- He calls both pee pee and poo poo, "poo poo."
- At least 4 times after he gets of the potty within 5 minutes he goes poo poo in his diaper!!! That little stinker!
- I know that Brian is glad he is away the week I decide to really try.
- If this week does not work there is always plenty of time in the summer.
- I know that this can be done, now it is up to Mommy and Kyle working together!

Right now as I am typing this we are trying another strategy. He does not like to sit on the potty for a long time(we have read lots of books and sung lots of songs).
So today he is watching "hotdog" eating a snack and sitting on the potty.






I will update to let you know how much progress we make at the end of the week.

Cheesin it Up

Tonight Kyle was very busy moving his chairs around. He had to line them up just perfectly.



Once the chairs were the way he wanted he sat down and said "eeeeeeeese." He kept saying it over and over. He got frustrated, walked over to me "pulled" me up and brought me the camera. I said "do you want me to take your picture?"
He said "yeah" and went back to siting in his chair saying "eeeeeeeese."

So of course I took his picture.

Favorite Time

One of my favorite times during the week is the weekend mornings. When Kyle wakes up I go get him and bring him in bed with mommy and daddy (sometimes Cole too). We just cuddle together and watch some Disney cartoons.
Last Sunday Kyle and Cole took over the bed.

Updates and Stuff

Hello! It is Kyle M. Berning here to update you on some new "tricks" I can do.

I am getting to be such a big boy you know. But if you ask me my name I will tell you my name is "baby."

My mommy brought home this thing called a potty. She wants me to tell her when I need to go poopy and pee pee before I go. I like sitting on it because I get a yogurt puff. If I go pee pee I get another one AND if I go poopy I get another one! I am getting better and better each day. Sometimes I tell her after I go potty in my diaper and sometimes I tell her before, she really gets excited when I do this.

I like to help my mommy do chores around the house. I help unload the dishwasher. I help put clothes in the dryer and take the clothes out of the dryer. Sometimes I will help sweep or vacuum. I think it takes mommy 5 times longer to get her things done but I know she really likes spending time with me.

I know where my hair, head, ears, eyes, nose, legs, elbow, feet, toes, arms, neck, mouth, teeth, shoulders, hands and tummy are. And I can point them out on other people too.

I know the sounds a dog, cat, cow, horse and elephant make. My mommy's favorite is the cat.

I know my numbers 1 and 2. When you give me a cracker, cookie or other yummy snack I will tell you "two" and hold out both hands.

I also like to climb up and down the steps without holding on to anything. This really makes my mommy nervous.

My favorite songs right now are Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the bus and Patty Cake. If I was allowed to get an ipod those would be on there.

A few weeks ago I did a post on my best friend Abby. At the time I could not say her name but now I can say "Abby" and I say it a lot.

I am starting to say some more words and do less grunting to get what I want. It does make communicating with my parents much easier.

I am sure there are some other new things I can do now. But it is nap time and I am getting sleepy. Good Night!

Hotdog

Kyle does not watch much TV but when he does he has a favorite show to watch, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. For those that have not seen the show they do a dance at the end called the "Hotdog Dance." Because of this dance Kyle now calls Mickey Mouse "hotdog." He loves hotdog! When the show is on he will play, watch a few minutes and then go play more BUT when the hotdog dance starts he is dancing along. It is his favorite part!





Hotdog is his favorite TV show and it is also one of his favorite foods.
